GT Cares About the World AIDS Day by Participating in the Socialization of the Importance of HIV and AIDS Programs for the Stakeholders of the Ministry of Transportation.

On Thursday, 12 November 2015, PT. Gajah Tunggal Tbk participated in the Socialization of the Importance of HIV and AIDS Programs for the Stakeholders of the Ministry of Transportation, which was held at the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation. This event is the first in a series of programs held to commemorate World AIDS day on the 1st of December.

The main theme of this event is “Healthy Living-an Early Prevention and Handling of HIV and AIDS, and To Be Productive”. This event was attended by Mr. Sugihardjo (Secretary General of Ministry of Transportation), Mr. Kemal Siregar (Secretary of Indonesia’s National AIDS Commission), Mr. Ramdani Sirait (Executive Director of IBCA), employees of the Ministry of Transportation, as well as students from Sekolah Tinggi Transportasi Darat and Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran.

The four main speakers at this event were Dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi (Ministry of Health), Mrs. Putri Cherry (HIV & AIDS Activist), Mrs. Catharina Widjaja (Director Corporate Communication and Investor Relations of PT. Gajah Tunggal Tbk), and Mr. Kerry Yarangga (Manager Community Health Development of PT. Freeport Indonesia).
During this event, Mrs. Catharina Widjaja elaborates on the Company’s policy and commitment on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Handling Program in the workplace, its partnership with IBCA, as well as programs and workshops that have been conducted by the Company to prevent an HIV/AIDS epidemic for the Company’s employees and surrounding communities.

The Company’s participation in this event emphasizes that PT. Gajah Tunggal Tbk cares about the importance of conducting the HIV/AIDS Prevention and Handling Program in the workplace, especially for the employees who are at risk to get infected by HIV/AIDS. The Company also hopes that PT. Gajah Tunggal Tbk could inspire other companies to participate in implementing HIV Smart Workplace Programs. Participating in this event is part of the Company’s CSR activities.
